I chose to crop the second image, of the tea cup and the toast, into the format of a banner on a skyscraper. The size of the image was specified in the given instructions. The reason I chose this specific image for the banner is because this image was formatted like the background of advertisement. There is also a noticeable blur on the edges and focal point in the centre of the original image. It has space for text and is neutral in colour enough to be used as a background for an advertisement, targeted at people who enjoy that specific type of food and, or cafes and, or environment.
I chose to crop the third image, of a person with a smile holding a sign with the text “Free Food” and some canned foods off to the side. I decided to crop the square where the sign is off to the, drawing the viewers’ eyes to the canned foods to show the full visual of what to generally expect. The colours of the image help with that as the colour of the top that the main person is wearing, the sign and the colour of the cans are all the same general colour, and so it help with where to keep the focus from the focal point to the visual aid.
I had to reduce and crop all of the images. The most difficult one being the university image as I struggled a lot trying to find the right scale for the image. I cropped it as best as I could with a researched ratio but I could not find the correct number of pixels to adjust the image to. The second image was relatively easy as I found a focal point – that made sense to me – to crop around. I, also, wanted to centre both objects in the banner, in order to ensure I encapsulate everything in order to convey the correct message to the viewer. The third image took me only a couple of crops to find the most comfortable crop from my perspective and the message I was conveying. Cropping the bold text off to the side in a big space of colour that draws the eyes to the same colour in the bottom corner is what I was trying to, and feel I have achieved. In doing so, I achieved the message I was trying to convey.
